Bye, Bye DC! Hi Madrid!

Bye, Bye! Thank you so much! It was an amazing experience that I strongly recommend everybody. DC always will be inside me. We have a good time togheter and next week will begin real life. That's all folks!

Ah! Mi última frase antes de irme debería ser en español, pero no tengo palabras para expresarla. Para paliar mi poca locuacidad, os dejo la imagen de una de las partícipes de que en España conozcamos este mundo. Sin duda, mi mejor foto.

Have fun!

Yesterday, it was my last night in DC. So, have fun!!

Ron Mueck

Yesterday, I was in Hirshhorn Museum and I was shocked with an Ron Mueck's sculpture. It was a great surprise, because if you want to see these sculptures in Madrid, you have to pay 50€. Here, in Washington, it is free. This sculpture, veins, eyes, nails, etc. are perfect. It was an unique experience.

An amazing guy!

I know this guy! Yesterday I was dinning with this guy and his family. It was an interesting dinner (indian food) and I could understand what Dermot wants to do. He began collecting money for poor Indian people and he crossed the U.S. asked for these people. Now, he is going to film a movie and he is going to write a book with his experience. He wants people become better every day.

This is his website and a video:

BBQ

Hi everybody,

Two days ago, we celebrated a party in Belgium's house. Our classmates cooked a yummy pasta salad, but everybody chose hot dogs. I prefer spanish ham (cured ham), but this is America.

The party was good, but the next day I had a lot of mosquito bites (fun never is complete).

Holocaust Museum

Two days ago, we were in the Holacaust Museum. It's a very hard place, but, I think, it's one of the best museum in D.C. There are a lot of pictures, movies and documents that explain all the holocaust process (it's very sad). I recommend the visit, but you need to spend 4 or 5 hours to have a complete experience.

I couldn't take pictures inside, because of this, I attach a Capitol's picture (it has been taken from Old Post Office in Pensylvania Av.)

Pentagon

Last week I was in Pentagon. I think is the worst place to visit in Washington, because you can't take pictures and you can't enter inside. My visit finished in 5 minutes, I took a picture in the Pentagon Memorial (it is the only place where you can take pictures) and then I came back home, it was pathetic. In addition, I was watching Pentagon and a policeman asked me the ID.
If you like Pentagon, look up it in the internet.

Arlington Cemetery

Does everybody know Arlington Cemetery? I think so. Don't you see American movies? I think so. If you are in Washington, you will go to Arlington Cemetery. In this place, you can see Kenedy's tomb and The Tomb of the Unknowns.

Eraser

No, I'm not going to talk about Arnol Schwarzenegger, I'm going to talk about "a eraser". Yesterday, when I was in class, I asked to my teacher: "Can you give me the rubber?" and my teacher said: "Whaaaaaaaaaaat, be careful with this word, it's so British". In U.S, a rubber is a condom. Now, I'm going to show you some differences between British English an American English:
  • Rubber (British) = Eraser (American)

  • Holidays (British) = Vacation (American)

  • Lift (British) = Elevator (American)

If you want to learn enjoying, you will to see gomaespuminglish.

Saturday, July 25

Ultrabar

Yesterday, I was in a bar in D.C, and now, I'm going to tell you the differences with Spanish bars:
  • You have to be in a queue for 1 hour, but inside there isn't nobody ("Mi no comprendo").

  • You have to pass a security control.

  • You can't smoke inside the building.

  • There are a lot of security inside.

Bye.

Massachusetts Avenue (Washington, D.C.)

Massachusetts Avenue is a major diagonal transverse road in Washington, D.C. In this road, you can find the National Cathedral, Vice President Biden's Residential and Dupont Circle. Furthermore, this road is known like Embassy's road, because you can see a lot of Embassys (Spanish Embassy is in Pennsylvania avenue, Spain is diferent).

In the theater seeing Afghan Star

Hi everybody,

I recommend you an Afghan's documentary. It tell us about a program TV, like American Idol , and how this program is taking the Afghan's nation.
Music was considered sacrilegious by Mujahiddeen by the Taliban (1996-2001), and this movie show us like music has come to symbolize freedom for the youth.

Finding Chip&Chop!

Last Saturday I went for a walk and I recorded a video. There are a lot of sounds and you can listen their in this video:

I was trying to record a squirrel, but I couldn't record anyone. At the end, in front of my house, I could take this picture:

I think, I live in the middle of the jungle.

Visiting old town (Alexandria)

Yesterday was a very good day. My classmate and I were visiting Alexandria, it is and old town in U.S.

Alexandria is in Virginia distric and it has a lot of things to do. We were visiting George Washington's house, George Washingtons's bar (he was drunk with his friends), Torpedo's Factory (a big building where you can speak with painters, sculptors, etc and you can buy their work of art.
The most interesting I saw yesterday was people playing over the tombs in a funeral, welcome to America!

My blueberry nights

The film's plot "My blueberry nights" is about a girl who begins a spiritual journey across America trying looking for true love. As you know, I'm not a girl and I'm not looking for true love in America.

This post is dedicated to blueberrys, have anyone eaten blueberrys outside a yogurt? I hadn't tried before and I recognize that they are sweet and tasteful. In the picture you also see a new Korean dessert with rice and honey, very yummy.

First day in LADO Center

Today has been my first day in LADO. My class looks ONU becase there are a Belgiam, a Moroccan, a Venezuelan, a Salvadoran, a Brasilian, two French and me. I think my English will improve quickly because nobody want to speak Spanish, neither me.

To have a lunch

Two things have surprised me when to have a lunch in the U.S.:

  • Tip -> In restaurants always pay for a tip between 10 and 20% of the total price.
  • Leftovers -> All food is paid for. If you want to take it home, you can ask and you get into the boxes like this.

Independence Day - I was there

Hi everybody,

Today is the most important day for American people, and the best place to celebrate is The Mall of Washington. I was there.

A lot of people with flags, caps, t-shirts with the flag inside, shouting and dancing. There are no words to explain this, you have to live it.

As people watched the show, I was visiting museums. In Washington, mostly of museums are free and I have to use it. Today visited The Smithsonian Museum and The National Gallery (you can take pictures), to finish contemplating de U.S. Capitol.

Korean dinner

Hi everybody,

Yesterday, my host-sister Hyun cooked korean food. She cooked us beef with red peeper and onion and noddles with crush-ice, cucumber and watermelon.
My host-mother bring us ginger-ice (very spicy and tasteful) for dessert.
